Learn Christian doctrine through 52 questions
New City Catechism, from The Gospel Coalition and Crossway, is a free app that teaches Christian doctrine through 52 questions and answers drawn from historic Reformed catechisms. Each question comes with a Scripture reading, a short prayer, devotional commentary, and a song to help it stick, and a simpler children's mode makes it workable for families. It is free on iOS, Android, and the web.
The New City Catechism is a modern-day resource aimed at helping children and adults alike learn the core doctrines of the Christian faith via 52 questions and answers. The New City Catechism mobile app makes it easy to take all of the questions and answers with you wherever you go - for free!
The app pairs each question and answer with a Scripture reading from the ESV, a short prayer, and a devotional commentary written by contemporary pastors, including John Piper, Timothy Keller, Kevin DeYoung, and others.
The app also includes a short version of each answer and kid-friendly songs designed to help children memorize the entire catechism.
Features:
• 52 catechism questions and answers related to God, humanity, sin, salvation, and more
• Devotional commentary on every question and answer written by respected pastors and church leaders
• Short prayers to accompany each question and answer
• A children's mode featuring short versions of each answer and quick access to kid-friendly songs designed to aid memorization
• Related Bible passages drawn from the ESV

This app is great for having all content accessable in one spot. However, it will only let me play each song only once. There is no way to start over unless I completely exit the app and get back in. If I pull up the full song list, there is no way to go back to the normal screen unless I shut down the app and get back in. It's a lot of unnecessary steps. Kids need repetition to learn, so being absh.Cornish

The way this catechism systemizes the core doctrines and beliefs of the Gospel and the way that it also protects against heresies by being absolutely grounded in scripture is absolutely astounding. Aesthetically, it’s rather lovely bc of the color coded sections and the little animations that accompany every question is pleasing to the eye. Practically, it’s easy to use and every time you open theDafhhkigb

A solid catechism that meets a need and fulfills a role. The introduction does a good job explaining how that plays out. My only frustration - and it’s nitpicking - is that I can’t figure out how to get to the Home Screen without closing and restarting the app; I don’t believe it’s possible. Do I need to go to the Home Screen? Not really. Can I navigate to all relevant places without doing so? Yup.TK42DAN
